Rocla Quarry Products, New South Wales, operates significant sand extraction throughout greater Sydney and several regional areas in our state. Our Kurnell, Calga and Raymond Terrace operations are all major suppliers of fine washed sand, specifically graded for blending in premixed concrete. Also available are fill and specialty sands.

Builders requirements such as bricklaying, plaster (Sydney sand) and fill sands are also produced, supplying various commercial and residential developments plus major infrastructure projects.

Further quarries are located at Bell in the Blue Mountains, which produces a high quality medium graded washed concrete sand, and a river sand deposit at Windsor on the Hawkesbury River which supplies a medium to coarse fill sand to local landscape & building suppliers as well as to the surrounding Sydney markets.

Rocla Quarry Products has an interest in Mittagong Sands Pty Ltd through its Joint Venture with Benedict Sand & Gravel.  This quarry offers various graded washed concrete sand, white and yellow mortar sand, bunker sand, compaction sand and filling sands.

• Kurnell

  Located just 30kms south of Sydney's CBD. This quarry is a major supplier of fine sands to Sydney's construction industry. The Kurnell sand is a fine dune silica sand, generally ranging in colour from light amber to a light grey. The main users of this sand are premixed concrete manufactures who call for a washed, sharp, free flowing, and well-graded sand. The natural leaching and the production process of washing and screening ensure a clean, low shell and salt free sand. Other sands available include washed Sydney Sand otherwise known as plaster sand as well as washed filling sands.

• Calga

  Located just 40 kms north of Hornsby via the F3 Freeway and only 1km along Peats Ridge Rd, this quarry location is ideally suited to service both the Sydney and Central Coast markets. Calga produces wash sands for use in premixed concrete and concrete products as well as yellow and off-white brick laying (mortar) sands.

• Bell

  Located approximately 80 kms west of Penrith in the Blue Mountains this quarry produces well graded silica sand through a washing, screening, and classifying plant to ensure a clean material suitable for use in concrete. This sand is ideal as a single sand for use as fine aggregate in the manufacture of premixed concrete, concrete products and bedding sand. Through the use of a classifying plant, various graded products can be made, including propagating type blends.

• Raymond Terrace

  This quarry is located approx 21 kms north of Newcastle and less than 10 mins from the Hexham Bridge on the Pacific Highway. It produces a fine grade silica sand ranging in colour from off-white through light grey to light amber. The sand is dredged and processed by washing and screening. These processes ensure clean, shell free, construction sand for various applications. Sand use includes blending as fine sand in premixed concrete, block laying and the manufacturing of asphaltic concrete. The recently introduced double washed sand is receiving wide acceptance for use as a rendering and bricklaying sand as well as a bunker sand on many golf courses throughout the Hunter and Newcastle districts.

• Windsor

  Located 30 kms north west of Parramatta, the medium to fine grade river sand is dredged from the Hawkesbury River and processed through a screening and washing plant. The common presence of moderate amounts of charcoal fragments prevent this sand from being used as a fine aggregate in concrete manufacture, but does not affect it's popular use for agricultural and general construction filling applications.

• Mittagong Sands

  Mittagong Sands Pty Ltd through its Joint Venture between Rocla Quarry Products and Benedicts Sand & Gravel Pty Ltd offers various graded washed concrete sand, white and yellow mortar sand, bunker sand, compaction sand and filling sands. Mittagong Sands supplies a large part of the Southern Highlands and also the Wollongong and far South Coast districts.
